LEACHATE PRETREATMENT PLANT

Bridgeton, MO

ET provided Construction Management services including design assistance, procurement of buildings, systems, treatment equipment, construction of the treatment facility and tank farm. The process was designed to handle 300,000 gallons per day and utilizes membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology along with aerobic digestion, pH adjustment and solids removal to treat the leachate. The facility also includes four 1,000,000-gallon aeration tanks and air scrubbing technology. The treated leachate is then discharged to a municipal public owned wastewater treatment plant.

The project was completed on a fast-track schedule with construction running concurrently with the facility design. ET began commissioning of the system approximately 9 months after groundbreaking. The facility was constructed immediately adjacent to ongoing landfill capping and closure operations requiring close coordination with landfill management and other contractors..
